Bonk is Solana's comeback dog — the Shiba-faced memecoin that airdropped its way into history at the chain's darkest hour and became the mascot of its revival.

BONK launched on Christmas Day 2022, weeks after the FTX collapse had gutted Solana's price and morale. Its supply was airdropped broadly to the community — artists, developers, NFT holders — an explicit attempt to give the chain's survivors something to rally around. The name nods to the older “bonk” doge meme of a Shiba being ceremonially clonked with a bat.
