Fine Dog

Character: FINE DOG · Origin year: 2013 · Tier: Iconic

This Is Fine — the hatted dog sipping coffee in a burning room — is the definitive image of modern coping: two panels that captured, once and for all, the feeling of calmly narrating your own catastrophe.

Origin

The dog comes from “On Fire”, a January 2013 strip of KC Green's webcomic Gunshow. In the full comic the dog melts; the internet kept only the first two panels — flames, coffee, “this is fine.”

Rise

The excerpt spread through the mid-2010s until it became the default reaction to every institutional slow-motion disaster: elections, markets, deadlines, deploy failures. It was tweeted by political parties, referenced in hearings, sold as plush toys — and, in a rare happy ending for meme creators, Green reclaimed it commercially, later drawing sanctioned sequels including the corrective “this is not fine.” In crypto, the dog is a portfolio screenshot: the eternal face of holding through a drawdown.

Connections

FINE DOG chairs the coping wing of the roster with Harold, who hides pain behind a smile, and Copium, who industrialized the substance. His fatalist cousin is Doomer; his portfolio is managed by Bag Hodler.

In BomberMeme

FINE DOG is a legendary S-tier Support hero of the Industrial arena; his THIS IS FINE signature keeps the team calm while everything around them detonates. Panic: zero percent. Room temperature: on fire. On the Solana battlefield he is every degen's spirit animal — sipping coffee at max drawdown, placing one more bomb.
